Or is it? No, no it’s not. This flier arrived in our inbox Saturday and we almost believed it because why would anyone’s fantasy lineup include the Faint? Bowie, Radiohead, MBV and the rest after the jump. The fakeouts start earlier every year.

    ouch, shot through the heart.

  2. oh sweet god please

  3. Nick  |   Posted on Nov 19th, 2007

Oh, god, please: The Knife, Röyksopp and Aphex Twin? Radiohead, Animal Collective, David Bowie and Vampire Weekend?

Why must people mess with us like this!!!

  4. Teddy Ruxspin  |   Posted on Nov 19th, 2007

    LOUIS XIV???

  5. derek  |   Posted on Nov 19th, 2007

The thought of Lauryn Hill at Coachella is intriguing.

What I love about Coachella is this: when the real line-up is eventually announced, it will be as unique and head-scratchingly weird as this one.

    de

  6. While this would be one of the best line-ups of all time, why would MBV possibly headline Sunday night over Bowie or Radiohead? That should’ve been the first clue of a hoax.

  7. Lukas  |   Posted on Nov 19th, 2007

possibly because it would mark MBV’s return?

  8. Blu Cantrell  |   Posted on Nov 19th, 2007

If you’re going to pass off a “real” line-up, at least make it believable. Louis XIV would not be in huge letters near the top (Do they still even exist?), bands like Okkervil River, The National, the Avalanches and Girl Talk wouldn’t be in such a small font, Serj Tankian wouldn’t even play unless his album came out the week right after Coachella weekend, and so forth. Come on people, don’t you know the drill by now? I like the nighttime moon theme, though.

Goldenvoice should just reformat the poster altogether.

  9. andrew  |   Posted on Nov 19th, 2007

For one, why would a fantasy line up NOT contain the Faint?

For two, obviously Godspeed You! Black Emperor would not play something like Coachella, if they were playing shows at all anymore.

  10. I was there. Great shows.

  11. frank  |   Posted on Nov 19th, 2007

take out the faint and throw outkast on there and we’re good to go.

  12. When I saw the Knife listed I knew it was fake. I doubt they will make music or play a show again, ever.

  13. Who still likes The Faint?

  14. bmckim  |   Posted on Nov 19th, 2007

    the postal service?

  15. Vince  |   Posted on Nov 19th, 2007

Looks about right to me. I think at least 55% of this will be the line up. While we’re at it. Can anyone predict who will possibly headline Bonnaroo this year?

  16. duder  |   Posted on Nov 19th, 2007

it’s patrick watson. not patrick wilson. so many times i’ve seen that done. so retarded.

  17. John  |   Posted on Nov 19th, 2007

What’s wrong with the Faint? Seriously.

  18. coming to the defense of the faint here. i mean, just cause surfers like em. gosh.

  19. Morgan  |   Posted on Nov 19th, 2007

There are many flaws in that…
The biggest being that Postal Service haven’t done anything since Give Up and don’t play live shows. Also I heard from an inside source Death Cab’s on the bill.

  20. matt  |   Posted on Nov 19th, 2007

oh, come on… this fake has been out for months… and stereogum should know how long paul tollett waits to put this thing together. this is inaccurate and lame.

  21. george  |   Posted on Nov 19th, 2007

thank god this is a fake. other than the headliner this is mostly a bunch of lame bands. so many bad la wannabe bands on this one. eww…

  22. Christopher  |   Posted on Nov 19th, 2007

Sara Barielles? That’s the funniest thing I’ve seen all month!

  23. Greg  |   Posted on Nov 19th, 2007

um, is there really any point in posting this if it’s fake?

  24. adrienne  |   Posted on Nov 19th, 2007

    i woudlnt go.

  25. alexis  |   Posted on Nov 19th, 2007

sweet jesus i would kill for this to be real.
not that i could go, since i can’t drive. but still. it’s the principle of the thing.

  26. Ferris  |   Posted on Nov 19th, 2007

David Bowie, MBV and Radiohead? shit.

also, the Airborne Toxic Event…I almost believed it.

  27. Elliot  |   Posted on Nov 19th, 2007

    *sob*

  28. i almost had a heart attack when i came across GY!BE
i hate my friend forever for sending me the picture..
too bad its a pile of bullshit, i would have cut off two limbs to see GY!BE do one more show.

  29. Luis Barcelo  |   Posted on Nov 19th, 2007

HELL YEAH I WOULD FOR SURE GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

only bands missing are WEEZER and Modest Mouse

  30. okay im gonna have a heart attack*dies*
the worst part is I can only go to ONE DAY. AUGH!!!!
    debating friday or saturday -____-

  31. oh its a fake.
    DAMN.

  32. oh its a fake.
    DAMN.

  33. Jonny Q  |   Posted on Nov 20th, 2007

I would give my right, and quite possibly my left nut as well to see Royksopp live.

  34. If the Knife were actually playing I’d piss myself. And M83! Hopefully it will be part real which is basically what all of you want too, though, differently. Comment boards are so stupid what am I doing here.

  35. Finchmeister  |   Posted on Nov 21st, 2007

Aphex Twin a line beneath Broken Social Scene? Nay, methinks.

  36. If this was real I would sell my actual soul to go.

  37. Monklish  |   Posted on Nov 21st, 2007

The Knife are touring next Spring/Summer, likely starting in the USA in April or May. Talks of Coachella.

The Postal Service aren’t playing any live shows for the indefinite future.

Aphex Twin is being his tricky self, but he hasn’t said no yet.

Bowie won’t be there. Neither will Zeppelin dum-dums.

Maybe Richard Ashcroft will do a duet with Chris Martin.

  38. yuck  |   Posted on Nov 23rd, 2007

WHAT THE FUCK, radiohead, david bowie, and MBV is pitchfork music. get the fuck out, hipsters.

  39. Peregrine  |   Posted on Nov 23rd, 2007

    Dammit.

My friend told me about this line-up the other day and I nearly had hot flashes.

  40. why is my bloody valentine the headliner on the FINAL day? seems pretty weak after Rage Against the Machine closed last years festival, if they want to even remotely try and top that, they need a better closing act.

  41. bingo gas station  |   Posted on Nov 24th, 2007

this would suck. at a normal coachella its already hard enough to pick witch stage to go to… and m83s name is too small.

  42. Geekster  |   Posted on Nov 24th, 2007

Um, what is good about Girl Talk anyhow? I checked him out because i’d read so much about it……but It’s just some bozo with a laptop. Am I missing something, or is this actually an emperor’s new clothes scenario?

  43. this is too good to be true…

  44. Mathieu  |   Posted on Nov 27th, 2007

    Amazing line up!
Can’t go wrong with Broken Social Scene and all the rest. But It’s too good to be true

  45. Dublin Joe  |   Posted on Dec 7th, 2007

MIA and Oppenheimer should be on there too.

  46. you shouldn’t do that to my heart.
    ever.
all three headliners are too amazing.

    ya joiks!

  47. Jessica  |   Posted on Dec 23rd, 2007

ahhhh, no electronic dance music fans here? lol
GABRIEL&DRESDEN, MARKUS SCHULZ, ARMIN VAN BUUREN, ROYKSOPP, and DJ IRENE??

    i wishhhhhh

  48. Rockit  |   Posted on Dec 25th, 2007

The line-up is sort of like last years, a little strange a little unbelievable but just enough for people to attend it. AND can everyone get over MIA she f-ing sucks live! See Lolla last year and any other tour she’s been on.

  49. coachella  |   Posted on Dec 28th, 2007

this is from one of the many threads of the rumor section of our message board. There is even a blank fake poster for you to make your own dream line up.

    http://coachella.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=8

  50. nicky  |   Posted on Dec 31st, 2007

i know this is way late, but i just had to comment about that patrick watson/wilson post. seriously man?

  51. I have to admit, I did kinda fall for this at first BUT I was extremely confused. I DID predict that Radiohead would be there (I also hope ’cause they’re my ultimate favorite band) but postal service? The Knife?? Lauren hill??? Hey, what;s goin’ on here?

  52. This is so fake, no om records djs on the list, go through all the other line ups and om records djs are on their, like derrick carter mark farina colette and so on, plus there should be more electronica, if this was the line up i would be very sad…puthedic

  53. if this were real.. i wouldn’t go this year

  54. this is wrong, sorry. some may be right, but its all basicly wrong

you forgot about the BREEDERS who have confirmed with Rolling Stones and their website that they will be playing the 25th at coachella.

its funny how people hype all this nonsense because they think they know who is playing.

you are right about VHS or BETA, aswell as PORTISHEAD did say they were playing.

    still, THE BREEDERS BABY!
    KIM AND KELLEY DEAL!
