Our favorite shiny happy R.E.M.-covering indie-gospel quartet Bodies Of Water recorded a Take-Away show in their Los Angeles hometown at the end of July. The video documentation’s now available for two gems from Ears Will Pop & Eyes Will Blink, one in China Town, the other on Olvera Street, both odes to joy. Love the outfits, too.

“I Guess I’ll Forget The Sound, I Guess, I Guess”

“I Heard It Sound”

Cult rock! Just realized we have no yellow in the wardrobe. The general nervous awkwardness is compellingly cute. The whistling harmonies on “I Heard It Sound” are super; the rounds on both, great. You can’t hear the hand drums too much and we miss the swirling cacophony of sound on the album versions, but the transfixed old man during “I Heard It Sound” more than makes up for it. La Blogothèque has the tunes in the other order, but we reversed ‘em to the album’s sequence (they seem like a call and response).

The band released the super Ears Will Pop & Eyes Will Blink on their own Thousand Tongues label, but they just signed up with Secretly Canadian, who’ll help distribute that debut, and will put out a new one by BoW this Spring.
