The Orie Weeks III-directed video for the title track from Blitzen Trapper’s Wild Mountain Nation, finds the Oregonian psych-Americana educators traversing a cut-and-paste world of mushroom clouds, guns, kites, and a single swinging monkey via balloon, horseback, aeroplanes over the sea, and more boats than a Fiery Furnaces video. They make it to outer space, amid the astrological signs, never once breaking a sweat in their cool checkered Western shirts. It offers the perfectly wacky vintage backdrop to go with their warped approach to roots (and R.E.M.) … and promise it’ll give you less of a headache than the claustro-flickering “Devil’s A-Go-Go.”

Remind you of anything?

Minus the subtitles, the suited dogs, and old denture cave:

Minus Paul Simon:

And, hell, once they get to space:

If only Billy had made it back to Earth.
