Who knew Icky Thump would turn out to be the White Stripes’ world cultures album. There’s the Anglophilic pearly kings and queen cover, the every-province-in-Canada touring, and the emerging Hispanic element: a south of the border romp for the “Icky Thump” clip, and in this here Diane Martel-directed vid, Jack and Meg in their toreador tailored suits, fighting bulls while covering Corky Robbins’s “Conquest.”

All goes well for dashing Jack, until Bull starts pulling the puppy dog eyes act ala Puss In Boots. Who was voiced by Antonio Banderas, who was imitated by Chris Kattan who opened the How Do You Say, Ah Yes. Show. sketch with Spanish guitar strums not far removed from “Conquest.” Further, Chris Kattan starred in A Night At The Roxbury with Will Ferrell, who was in Talledaga Nights with Mos Def, who was in The Woodsman with, yep, Kevin Bacon.

Icky Thump is out via Third Man/Warner.

this sucks. too bad it looked like it was expensive. maybe make a cheaper video with more brain juice and spend the extra $ on some books for some kids in new orleans… oh thats right mr. white isn’t a humanitarian (not killing the bull?) he’s an entertainer (should have made with killing the bull then). poop or get of the pot man.

  3. ^^^^What the fuck are you talking about?? Books in N.O.?
Jack White is not a humanitarian? I’m not sure where you’re going with this. I would say shit or stop making stupid fucking posts that make no sense.

well t, i would lump mr.whites feelings for not being responsible for foreign policy as being anti-humanitarian. and to follow suite i just kinda thoughta thata biga budget video and his self proclaimed musician/entertainer status would merit killing the bull, dig? its entertainment right? c’mon you saw how surly the crowd was, thats how i felt when i saw this poor video = i wasn’t entertained. art makes you thing and entertainment makes you need a drink.

There’s an Ebay commercial with the original ‘Conquest’ in it with Corky Robbins singing.
And holy crap, it’s a music video. It’s not that serious. Just sit back, enjoy, and get the stick out of your ass.
