We all knew Ben Gibbard was a punk rocker and that Chris Walla was singing again. We even gave you a Death Cab For Cutie studio update a ways back … but we didn’t realize how close the boys were to their next album until we saw this behind the scenes video splashing over at the official DCFC website (thanks, Tyler!). Does it ever strike you that Gibbard owns quite an array of similar, but slightly different button-down shirts? And, while dudes are definitely maintaining the eye of the tiger — “I just don’t feel like we have anything to prove,” etc. — have you ever seen more idyllic footage of a band recording? Where are the drunken brawls, Metallica therapy sessions, the celebratory snorting of cocaine off of groupies, and “I’m in the Postal Service, bitch” diva moments? The footage is bland, but the moody background music sounds promising. Great bass line, gents. The as yet untitled album is out this May via Atlantic.

I thought these guys broke up when the O.C. was cancelled.
HEYO!
HAHAHA you guys are gold.
These comments brought to you by Fox Searchlight’s Juno, now playing in select theaters.
Ha! Except for that whole thing where they were together for about 4 years before the OC, and made continued to tour after the OC was cancelled… how brave!
Anyways, sounds good.
Damn yo, Nick H. cut off his parenthetical bangs! Hope he’s still into comic books.
i was wondering why ben gibbard was hanging around san francisco, showing up to sing at the rilo kiley show and interviewing lemony snickett at the palace of fine arts, guess this explains it
sounds good. I’m really starting to get excited about that album. Hope they’ll make it more We Have The Facts like.

Was that a Coldplay song at the beginning?
-All jokes aside, Transatanticism was fucking good.
