David Brewis is School Of Language. He’s also 1/3 of Field Music (one of two Brewis’s in the band). Though School Of Language is a solo project, he’s not entirely alone on Sea From Shore: The Brit’s debut includes guest spots from Futureheads’ Barry Hyde (guitar/voice on “Disappointment ’99,” awesome bow-tie in his own “Twist“er) and another Head, David Craig, who sings on “Disappointment” and “Extended Holiday.” Ex-Kenickie member Marie Nixon and Sarah McKeown also contribute. Results? The first single, vowel-y “Rockist Part 1,” really does sound like a School Of Language. Check it out after the jump, Eliza Doolittle.

There are four of these loopy “Rockist” songs, described as “a series of daydreams on words” in some one-sheet somewhere. So then, in the hope of demonstrating a continuum, after the jump you’ll also find the non-album remix of “Rockist Part 3 (Aposiopesis).” Its opening bass line had us thinking “Cannonball,” but then it ascending into this full-on clatter-choir. Take a listen. First, though, you need to make it past a scary picture of David.

Boo!

School Of Language
