No, not the British techno band. We’re talking Lyte Funky Ones. Last night Angela Ad Sales passed along a voicemail that showed up on her brother-in-law’s answering machine. Yeah, we get messages from telemarketers all the time, but rarely do they break into their own renditions of “Summer Girls” after they think they’ve hung up the line. Not wanting to publicly out the LFO fan, we protected her identity with the DLR “Runnin’ With The Devil” audio (the most creative use of that vocal track since the Hood Internet this morning). Doesn’t the boss ever let those telemarketers off work to discover new music? Compare her version to the original. You know she was wearing Abercrombie & Fitch.

Billy Shakespeare did write a whole bunch of sonnets — can’t front on that, LFO — but what’s this ongoing beef with Chinese food?

  1. He has “always been hip to the B-Boy style”?

Surely this is one of the worst songs ever. It is horrible. Horrible!

“Summer girls come and Summer girls go…” I can’t believe I just sat through the entire song. I need to go and find Len and get into some “Steal My Sunshine” action. 1999 Rules!

Summer Girls is, if I could remember the words and they had it at karaoke bars, my favorite karaoke song.

Me and my friends used to make fun of this song so much back in high school. Ahh memories.
If all pop artists so clearly wrote their own music, i might listen to the radio more.

I’ve always been hip to the b-boy style.

  7. the lead singer battled leukemia a few years back. wah wahhh

I have always liked this song. Sort of a guilty pleasure that I don’t feel that guilty about. It’s bad and ridiculous and utterly nonsensical but too fun to deny.

  9. This song is such a monument to the vapidity of 1999/2000.

And that “Execudude” photo really redefines douchebaggery.

Do I get a cookie if I’ve never ever heard that song? Jesus. I had to stop it after like 10 seconds. Those guys take douchebaggery to dizzying heights.

Thank God I missed that amazing phenomenon.

The phone call is funny, though.
