Breathe a sigh of relief, Christopher Cross. Newly soberish Amy Winehouse was Hancock-blocked (sorry) from sweeping the big four categories at tonight’s Grammys when Herbie inexplicably picked up Best Album honors. Wino did have a huge night via satellite, though: five awards in all.

We’re shocked too!

Kanye and Bruce each took home an armful as well. And if you read the fine print, you saw Bright Eyes and Flight Of The Conchords were honored with statues pre-show. Barack Obama won Best Spoken Word Album for the second time. After the jump, check out all the winners you might be curious about (i.e., we left out country, classical, and Best Hawaiian … you can find those at grammy.com).

this is actually obama’s 2nd grammy – he won best spoken word for his first book as well. so no “catching up” to hillary, although he just tied Bill Clinton, who has won 2 grammys

  4. Slayer winning a Grammy…awesome.

Thank you and congratulations. I know what you mean. I don’t know about hope, money for dope. The art is what it is, and it’s really something. Thank you and congratulations for being one of the few people to realize it.

hahaha. Obama won a Grammy. And even better, Flight Of The Conchords won a Grammy.

How many delegates does Obama get for winning this? And can Flight of the Conchords be his dual running mates. that would be badass.

  16. How great would it have been, if they had televised Flight of the Conchords getting their award and Kayne West interrupting their speech much like he did at the Euro VMA’s a few years back!!??
