By and large, looks like you guys dug “Hang Them All,” the lead track from Tapes ‘N Tapes Dave Fridmann-produced sophomore rekkid Walk It Off. Now you have a little less than 24 hours to stream the entire thing at the band’s site and solidify your opinion some (it’ll be up until 1pm CST tomorrow, 3/7). You just need to insert an email into a blank field to dig into it, but don’t take too long inventing a faux address — time’s a wasting.

Walk It Off is out 4/8 on XL. They’ll be playing a lot of show before and after that. Head to MySpace for the specifics.

Was Tapes 'n Tapes cover of Prince's "Purple Rain" wise?
Tapes 'n Tapes is far from the first act to try and cover this beautiful beast of a tune. Two recent examples that exhibit total failure include this stinker by Staind frontman Aaron Lewis during an acoustic solo performance. At about the 1:15 mark, it ...

well some of us like to do things the band-approved way…

  3. Damn. “Headshock” is every bit as good as I remember it live.

    i love it.

  5. they had their moment, let someone else have the spotlight for a while. no one likes a band that tries to stay relevant.

ha! i am only making a joke!

This is WAY better than the Loon.

I agree with Evan. I love this album so much more than the Loon.

I think this is a better overall album than The Loon but The Loon had a couple really standout tracks that this one doesn’t so much. But maybe that’s due to what was surrounding those other tracks. oh well.

Is Dave Fridmann producing every shitty “blog band”‘s sophomore album these days? First Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, now Tapes ‘N Tapes.

they should just sack up and give it away like this: the octagon – http://seriousbusinessrecords.com/releases/show/27-Nothing-But-Change

    Lines is pretty damn awesome.

  12. this is wayyyy better than the loon. it’s growing on me more and more and with each listen. not as instantly hooky/catchy as the loon, but WAY better.

  13. On first listen, it’s a bit of a letdown. “Hang Them All” is the only track that grabs me on a level close to standouts from the Loon like “Insistor” and “Just Drums.” That said, this seems to be a more consistent effort overall. I will definitely give this one lots of plays before making a final evaluation.

the leak sounds sounds distorted, which i assume is intentional…

i like the songs, but the mix is unlistenable to me

Why just stream it for 24 hours? By doing this, they are basically just giving you the mp3s to their new album to have forever. Just listen to a few seconds of each song and check your browser cache (you better be using Firefox)…the mp3s will be magically waiting there for you. Its a 128kbps rip, but that is acceptable for now.

i hope the leak is just bad and that fridmann didn’t fuck this album over

  18. Ryan  |   Posted on Mar 7th, 2008

Why does this guy have to distort the sound just like he did with cyhsy? Ruins it

  19. Chris Davis  |   Posted on Mar 7th, 2008

Does track 2 sound like a blatant Krug rip off to anyone else?

  20. mike  |   Posted on Mar 10th, 2008

i hope this album is actually good

  21. Ive listened to the album around 10 times now at first thinking it would take time to grow on me but it has’nt its a massive dip from ‘the loon’. The problem is’nt necesssarily with Friddman’s production its just a much more dull, dreary affair. Wheras the loon gripped you after a few listens this one chunters along never really satisfying. A lot of the songs are just plain dull and would be fine as b sides, the only three that warrant purchasing the album are ‘george micheal’, ‘blunt’ and ‘conquest’ with ‘hang them all’ good for the first minute and a half but when the main chorus comes in the singing and lyrics just grate. I put this down to the ‘difficult’ second album.
