Danger Mouse keeps busy. Set aside the recent flurry of Gnarlsy news and tracks. Just today we hear that the “unnamed producer” working on Beck’s next album is mighty Mouse himself which, after taking a good listen to his work here on the Black Keys’ “Psychotic Girl,” is just perfect. Danger, who produces the Keys new record, puts the blues-rock duo on a wobbling, oozing rhythmic cushion that keeps spiraling out under the Keys’ rusty slide guitars and achy day vocals. In between those layers come flecks of banjo and the sort of cavernous backing harmonies ?uestlove was just singing along to on Barkley’s “Who’s Gonna Save My Soul.” It’s a mid-tempo fat beat, and it’s a very good look.

My life is so great right now. Beck is buddying up with Mr. Mouse AND new Black Crowes, Mountain, Lips, and KEYS??? It’s black but the future sweems bright!

Its beautiful, every part. I find its best played very loud, but make sure you follow the piano throughout. for such a basic part, it makes the whole song just sink real gently into a flowing masterpiece. Its claimed a place firmly up with the likes of “everywhere i go”. Spot on lads, nice one.

  15. I can’t help it, i’m playing it over and over…

  16. All the Keys albums are great, but this is the best by far. Loved that the Mouse was producing – the sound is a little more put together than usual. The songs are all very meaningful and portray different parts of my life. Psychotic Girl, So He Wont Break and Oceans and Streams are right up there with my favorite songs ever!!!!
