Nobody needs to tell you Tim Harrington and the Savy Fav put on a righteous live show. In recent years, maybe you saw the sunburned shamanism on display during our show at McCarren Pool a couple of summers ago. Or perhaps you shut-ins got a sense of the madness via Tim’s disturbingly sexed-up strip tease on Conan some weeks ago.

So it’s about time Tim’s comic/performance art livewire act, set against LSF’s frantic, frenetic post-punk, gets some documentation. Really what we want is a video documentary (they’ve supplied one before … sort of), but the forthcoming live album After The Balls Drop — recorded at their Bowery Ballroom gig at 3AM New Year’s Day this past year — will suffice for now. We’re told the tracklist has past gems, Let’s Stay Friends cuts, and Nirvana/Pixies/et al covers, but our first listen at what we missed that morning comes in Inches … via “Sweat Descends.”

Kind of makes you wish you were there, doesn’t it. Well, After The Balls Drop is out 4/28 via Frenchkiss. That’s the closest you’re getting. After all of this endorsing of live Savy Fav, we’re duty bound to provide the upcoming dates:

04/04 Washington, DC @ The Black Cat
04/05 Philadelphia, PA @ TLA
04/25 Indio, CA (Coachella)
04/27 San Francisco, CA @ Great American Music Hall

You should go. We’ll send you off with that good Art In Manila cover, alongside a pic of the boys…
