Yesterday saw Cryptacize taking on Steely Dan’s “Peg.” Today it’s the Black Keys covering Captain Beefheart’s Safe As Milk tune “I’m Glad.” (No, not this one.) The song doesn’t show up on Attack & Release — the soulful, grinding, slow-builder was recorded yesterday at Dan’s place. Which is what’s called a quick turnaround. It’s the first we’ve heard from the Ohioans since their triumphant, down and dirty Letterman appearance, and we’re digging it … good times, indeed.

“I’m Glad”‘s downloading for free over at MySpace, but only until 5/9, so godspeed. Ours will do down then, too.

So I'm not surprised to read on AllAccess that she told Patrick Carney of the Black Keys that she would dress up ... Besides cupcakes, Tom Waits and Captain Beefheart also come up.
