The subtle dream-pop breeze ushered in by “Good Lies” is a great way to open The Devil, You + Me, its declaration of “let’s just imitate the real, until we find a better one … Remember, the good lies win,” still a bit goosebumpy (because it’s true). On the record, it’s followed by “Where In This World,” which the band set to that video where the couple attempts to discover a new world via a homemade air machine.

The Devil, You + Me is out next week in the States, so it’s time for a third track to help us better comprehend the overall thematic, sonic arc of the German’s long-awaited new collection. Instead of giving you “Sleep” as it appears in its fragile, spare, faith-questioning form on the record, here it is remixed by ex-cLOUDDEAD and anticon. co-founder Odd Nosdam. He skitters, fuzzes, and distorts, which takes it into somewhat more perilous terrain.

Remember, the Notwist joined forces with anticon. crew Themselves as 13 & God, so this makes solid associative sense. Plus, it sounds good.

The Devil, You + Me is out now in Europe via City Slang and 6/17 (next week) in the US on Domino.
