Tell Tale Signs, the eighth volume of Dylan’s Bootleg Series, is out in October. It’ll include previously unreleased material/alternate versions of songs from the last two decades (see Time Out Of Mine, Modern Times, Oh Mercy, and some odds-and-ends soundtrack appearances, etc). If you go to bobdylan.com and don’t mind signing up/registering you can download “Dreamin’ Of You.” I handed over my info and got the track — it’s a bluesy, well-produced recording from the 1997 Time Out Of Mind sessions with Daniel Lanois. (Because it’s Dylan, I need to listen again and pay attention to the lyrics.) If you aren’t into singing up for things, you can head here for a 30-second streaming clip. Listen while you study the tracklist:

Danny Schmidt on Bob Dylan
How did you first get into Bob Dylan? I first started listening to Dylan when I was an angst-ridden 15-year old. I was especially drawn to his stream-of-consciousness mid-60s era stuff… Bringing It All Back Home, Highway 61… that stuff. Dylan came off ...

How did you first get into Bob Dylan? I was 17 and going into my senior year in high school, working a summer job in Boothbay Harbor, Maine, in the summer of ‘65. It was a resort where a lot of New Yorkers, mostly college kids, were also working.

  1. here’s to hoping this has a couple of gems of “blind willie mctell”s stature. one of his greatest songs and it got fucking buried.

  2. What? The deluxe edition is 130 dollars?

Come on, Bob. You’re killing me.

Time out of Mind, not Time out of Mine.

  4. I’m assuming you’re using “old” as an adjective to describe Bob Dylan, and not the song?

$130 for the triple?? Why FORCE me to download it illegally? And they wonder why music piracy is so rampant. Fuck the book, i want the third disc!

  6. I only spent a few minutes drooling over this little gem before adding to my Dylan webcast at http://www.dylanradio.com
