With the Pecknold-fronted psych-folkers having a moment, it’s a wise time for fellow Fox Josh Tillman to digitize his solo discography for fans wanting to examine the Sub Poppers’ constituent parts. J’s three records are now available on Aquarium Drunkard’s Autumn Tone label. Get purchase info and download the very pretty “Steel On Steel” at AD.

  1. His music’s quite lovely. And he’ll be performing some opening sets for them in the Fall. When I saw them live, he was quite the charmer, even behind the drum kit–with his cheesy jokes and all.

  2. the boy looks good in boots and western tops, that’s for sure.

    love it

  4. If folks are interested, there are still some copies of the super rare 2006 Tour EP CDs he released through the now-defunkt KEEP Recordings at Abandoned Love Records site (scroll down):

The artwok is hand-assembled, dripping with love. Long live KEEP

  5. Tillman’s a real talent. It’s good to see his own work getting attention now that he’s a Fleet Fox.
Anybody have any new info on Vacilando Territory Blues, his upcoming, but long-completed record?
He had posted most of it to his myspace, but it has since been taken down and I am desperately seeking a copy of “Daytrips”, possibly one of the best songs I’ve heard this year.

  6. i remember when he was “former saxon shore drummer” j. tillman.

i’m very pleased that he’s with another extremely talented group of musicians.

    long may he run.

  7. I’m so happy this comments section didn’t turn into an inane discussion about Tillman’s musical influences. I really wish that last Fleet Foxes post would go away. I don’t like to spoil my Fleet Foxes love with all that silliness.
