The first single from Keane’s upcoming third album Perfect Symmetry (10/13) is pretty cheesy, but some of us like it. Then again some of us like 1987. Take a listen at MySpace or YouTube. You can supposedly download it for free at keanemusic.com, but the site’s not loading, which could very well mean a lot of other people like 1987, too.

Goodbye, piano. Hello, synthesizer!
I like it but I keep expecting Bowie to interject with “Let’s Dance!”. It has the makings of a good mashup.
I could not get through that whole song. awful. just awful.
Brilliant! I hear a lot of Talking Heads influence throughout. I’m really awaiting this album now–really good to hear a band try something totally new and not screw it up.
This song is brilliant, i really am ashamed you all called it cheesy. I come here everyday and respect your opinions but that is taking it too far in my opinion.
I love Keane. Great live. Read every update on their website. Whatever.
Spiralling isn’t good. Unless they want to remix it and win a grammy for best dance track. It reminded me of bad Killers music. That bridge was truly brutal.
I dont think it’s cheesy as much as it is misguided. I thought they were on the up with their second album now they SEEM to have dropped down again. Let’s hope the rest of the new stuff isn’t this bad.
And where the fuck is Keane?
Sucks big time.
Inspiration missed.
the problem with reading anything critics write about keane is that everything is polar. it’s either love or hate, nothing is very subjective.
i LOVE the interlude bit. brilliant. is he putting on an accent? he sounds vaguely jamacian.
This is a pretty great single, reminds me of Robbie Williams (who I don’t even like).
Not their worst song, but not close to the best either. I thought my eardrums were going to explode during Tom’s big “spiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiraling” moment. Hopefully I can catch them on tour this time (if they come near NC and if I can find someone to go with me).
Great record. I think people need to realise they ditched the piano ballad style after the first album. That’s not a guitar you’re hearing on Is It any Wonder, it’s a keyboard. The band have a keyboard, drums and vocals – THAT’S IT. All the people that keep moaning about their sound need to get over it and realise what a diverse instrument a keyboard/synthesiser is and that Tim Rice-Oxley is one of its finest ever programmers and players.
my yute, wha yu ah seh??? de man nah speak no bumborass jamaican!!! steups go learn some rassclat geography

Big fan, but this is pathetic. It totally blows.
Sounds Good! I guess I have to say that I am more happy with a good song and a progressing sound than just adding a string quartet(Coldplay) and doing the same as last album. Excited for the album, working with Jacques Lu Cont is never a mistake for anyone.
What the hell happened to Keane? Oh well…thank goodness Thirteen Senses is still around.
