When evaluating the Black Mountain’s Polaris-nominated In The Future many moons ago, we labeled “Wucan” as “trippy.” Judging from this peyote-popping clip, the Vancouver quintet were thinking something similar when they wrote the track (and decided to go for the lengthy psychedelic keyboard jam at the 3/4 mark). Find a dark room and dig into “Wucan”‘s scratched-emulsion animation, random found film vignettes (wildlife, landscapes, the open road), and dusky sun-splashed live footage.

The band filmed much of the footage, which was then edited together with the assistance of Shira Blustein and Jon West. It’s unclear who scored the drugs.
