CMJ ’08 is on the horizon, which means it’s been about two years since we first encountered Swedish chanteuse and Stereogum Presents… alum Frida Hyvönen. On first blush, the relatively spare but well voiced chords (and melodies) hinted at Joni. But now it’s time for a new record, and from the sound of the first track served up for blog consumption, a new songstress to emulate: “Enemy Within” is much less Mitchell although still ’70s, bringing a a fuller tapestry that might recall the women behind, well, Tapestry.
