We’ve posted and enjoyed a number of videos from Elbow’s fourth album, Mercury-nominated The Seldom Seen Kid, but it seems like the UK quintet remains seldom seen (kill me) in the State. Their new single “The Bones Of You” ostensibly contains a bit of George Gershwin’s “Summertime.” Maybe that’s what they need for a US breakout? Or maybe this jerky, start-and-stop clip for the track, which includes plenty of earnest closeups of stubbly frontman Guy Garvey and an endless parade of blond ballet dancers mixing it up with the rest of the Elbows, will do the trick.
Did you hear those promised “Summertime” “elements” in there? Maybe this classic version of the standard will refresh your memory.
The Seldom Seen Kid is out now in the UK on Fiction/Polydor and in the US on Geffen.

Does anyone know if Elbow is going to come back and do more US dates on this tour? Was so pissed when I missed them when they came over in April. I was at Coachella when they hit NYC>
Thanks for giving Elbow some much needed love. This album is definitely one of my favs from this year and I have to smile everytime I see the “Burn After Reading” promos on TV because it makes me want to see the movie even more because I’m loving the title track even more.

Yeah, they definitely deserve the Mercury Prize. The Seldom Seen Kid is a fantastic album.
Saw them in SF, and they were great (as usual). They mentioned that they might be heading back to the states after wrapping up summer festivals in the UK, so I’m hoping for another US tour.
These guys really deserve more attention here in the US. It boggles my mind that people can rave about Coldplay’s latest (meh) and have never heard of Elbow.

I love Elbow, but for a song with lyrics that evoke a bustling outside world, what’s with the claustrophobic, college-dance-recital theme?
This song is nothing short of fantastic, the lyrics, melody and vocal are just streets ahead of anything that is currently in the top 20 of the charts, close your eyes and listen to it. I am not a music snob but this is superior stuff to the dross that makes up 90% of the radio airplay. don’t get me wrong, I like the catchy radio stuff as well but this deserves more credit.
