The heroes of Fork Fest made their American network television debut on Carson last night. That show is generally insufferable, but the stage setup for its musical guests couldn’t be more perfect for the Aussies, or the first impression it gave to the audience of literally tens of Carson Daly’s regular viewers. “Lights And Music” is a bona fide banger at a time when I hate calling anything a “banger,” and the mix of lights, beats, and sunglassed-and-sweating crowd helps give an idea of why Cut Copy shows are a really great time to take dance-music friendly drugs.

  1. 2:03 = awesome frat boy dance. Cut Copy is fantastic live, so I’m glad they’re getting this exposure. But what was with the singer’s constantly raised arms? Also, I’m amazed that it’s taken them this long to get on late night, yet Department of Eagles was on Conan without even a release. Not that I’m comparing the quality of music, just the popularity.

this was not good. half of the song was prerecorded and i’m pretty sure the harmony parts were at least partly lipsynced too

glad they’re getting exposure for sure, they are a great band. but there’s something about the new tracks that’s ummmm, not as good. I don’t know. their last album was like, perfect. not a weak track. the new tracks sound forced, and they sound too much alike, and use too many of the same lyrical phrases. oh well, it would be impossible for this album to be as good…

  5. When referring to talk show hosts “Carson” will always be Johnny Carson. You made me think Cut Copy rode their new wave schtick all the way back to the ’80s so they could sit on the couch with Johnny with that headline. Can we agree to always refer to Carson Daly by both his first and last names at all times from now on?

So damn tired of that song. They play it out at the club. Remixes, too. They have so many better songs and how the heck do they play live with only a few guys?

that was a pretty awesome frat boy dance, there’s an even better one at 2:19 if you keep your eyes peeled.
