Ellen DeGeneres is now in the video premiering business, guys. So while you update your RSS readers to add her site to your feed, we’ll supply the link to ellen.warnerbros.com (UPDATE: YouTube’s got it, after the jump) so you can watch Kanye’s clip for “Love Lockdown” (Internet Focus Group Version). It features heartbroken (and soon to be “Heartless“) Kanye doing some high-budget sulking in his one-colored apartment, while visions of glow-in-the-dark African tribespeople dance in his head. Been there.

Kanye West Wins Three Early Grammys
It didn't look like Kanye West, the most nominated man at Sunday (February 12) night's Grammys, was going to make an appearance at the show, but even before the curtain came up, he was already a big winner. "Everybody's working hard and he's definitely ...

“one-colored?” “Mono-chromatic,” anyone? Not being a dick, just saying.

The video’s pretty dope with the whole primal-vs-domestic juxtaposition deal. The song’s really growing on me.

  2. Wow I really love this video!! I can’t wait to see what else he has in store for his new album.

The video is beautiful. I think the song sounds like a b-side. Really dull and the lyrics are actually horrible. Like a 5th grader writing a poem.

I actually was going to suggest, “monochromatic” as well but feared it would be taken as being rude. Just meant to help.

Also, for a great companion video it should be paired with Goldfrapp’s Ride A White Horse. Both are beige-creamy-delicousness: Dulce de lece.

    • I’m a 5th grader and I take offense to your comment! My poetry is good. Look at my haiku.

        Yeh yr haiku sucks
Haikus are for fags, i dont care what grade your in, the japanese really fucked the world of language when they came up with the dip-shit idea of a haiku, theres nothing interesting about it at all.

  4. I’m sorry, but this song is just awful. Perfect Pitch?

  5. the song is not awful. not great, but not awful. the chorus is great, however. the video is pretty weak. thanks for listening.

  6. i really dig the song…and the video for the most part. why ellen though?

  7. godDAMNIT i’m sick of vocoders.

At least Jessica Simpson and Britney Spears had the decency to pretend that their voice wasn’t altered.

Kanye?? No, this is the new Cher, isn’t it?

  9. what a weak ass song by kanye. sounds like it was written and recorded and ‘mastered’ in a single day

When I first heard about this new direction, I kinda let the backlash get to me and I assumed he was just doing something really hackneyed. This is the first time I’ve heard the song and I think everyone is nuts. Don’t flip a shit because your favorite rapper isn’t rapping. If anything, this is a new context for R&B and I dig it. I hope the rest of the album sounds this minimal. Kanye West has every right to challenge his fanbase.

And by the way, the video is pretty awesome. It’s a tribal twist on the sulking in your bedroom format, just like the song. It’s appropriate and cool to look at. I like the first shot of the tribe running out of the wall.

    • “Challenge his fan base”?! The only thing challenging about this is closing your eyes and trying not to hear every r&b song made within the last five years.

  11. It’s halfway between a Daft Punk b-side and Jamiroquai’s Virtual Insanity. I’m genuinely puzzled… Can we please just have another Jesus Walks?
