Along with a pair of plumage pads, Brandon Feathers and his band of hairy Killers unveiled this one for a nationally televised audience on SNL a few weeks ago. Like “Human,” the high energy synth anthem sounded better slightly stripped at 30 Rock than in the studio, but chalk that up to the band’s tendency toward manufactured Importance via one-arrangement-trick-too-many. Still very Oh-Oh-Oh-able though, and loads better than “Losing Touch.”

Check “Neon Tiger” for the complete Day & Age pre-release sample set. The album’s out 11/25 via Island. Pre-order it now on iTunes and get instant “Losing Touch” MP3, which I guess is supposed to be incentive.

I liked it better when they sang it live on SNL. It kind of reminds me of “Bones”, in the way where I heard that song live but didn’t dig the studio track as much as I thought I would later on. It’s mid-level Killers quality, but unlike “Human” (Which isn’t their best either) it has me worried that the third album won’t have these guys trecking new territories in their sound.

i actually like the beat in this song better than human, although not agreeing with why brandon had to pick such a subject as a focus. it is ridiculous but then again maybe it’s the whole point. can’t help singing along with the oh oh oh! seriously, can’t nov. 25 come soon enough?!?

  20. Brian  |   Posted on Nov 11th, 2008

MUCH better than Human, this is more on track with the great stuff they put out on Sam’s Town. I’m hoping for more of this and less of the electro-dance mix stuff like Human.

What’s with all the haters? I love the killers and think this album is amazing, including the song. Most of the Killer’s songs have a lot of hidden meanings that you really have to think about to get. In my opinion Spaceman’s about thinking about your actions(focusing on suicide) Before you do them.

“That I could leave this star-crossed world behind; – go to heaven
But when they cut me open, – after he started cutting
I guess that changed my mind. – changed his mind
    And you know I might
Have just flown too far from the floor this time” – He might be too far from the coming back and actually might die even though he doesn’t want to know.

And how they public will agree on anything that you put out there. Everyone knows that the Nile never went east to west, but if they say it people will believe it. This is just my opinion but I think haters should just look at the real meaning of a song and just listen to the first 10 seconds of it and think it’s horrible. Day and Age is an amazing album and I can only wait for the next.

The Killers are easily one of the best bands around today and of the last 10-20 years
Spaceman is one of the best songs on a fantastic album and the only way is up for the Killers!
