Fresh off telling the AMAs he wants to be “better than Elvis,” Kanye hit Ed Sullivan Theatre last night with “Lockdown.” The vibe was VMA style, but with two tiers of masked drumline to better fit Dave’s stage. I like that he’s going for it with the singing thing, looking increasingly comfortable relying on his questionable cords (he smiles!), but even that auto-tune can’t save the bum note on “it haunted me.” Tweak those settings, Ye. Doesn’t bother Dave though — he gives the performance a “Whoa buddy!”

808s & Heartbreak is out and prematurely evaluated.

What would happen if Kanye West, Jack White, and Thom Yorke formed a band together?

George Bush doesn’t care about auto-tune.

  6. it’s more of an Eddie Murphy-like shag….but a Theo Huxtable reference is funnier I suppose

i suspect a duet with the blue man group is in the works

  8. Wow, that was fucking terrible. Kanye was never a distinguished rapper and now this? I really like how he just screams the chorus and despite the auto-tune still sounds like a 12 year old boy with his voice cracking.

The “coming to america” dance troupe would have been a welcome distraction. God, Letterman has such an annoying personality.

  11. Why doesn’t he sing the chorus like this on the record? Sigh, I digress. Still awesome.

  12. Love Letdown.

  13. uh, he killed it guys. of course, this is about the only song worth anything on the record.
