Lately Lily’s been making news more for music than bloggerrhea: collabing with Kaiser Chiefs, turning out bits from her forthcoming It’s Not Me, It’s You, etc. As she’s said, Lil’s “trying to do this album with integrity, and I want you all to know that it has been thought about by me, not just some thrown together last minute industry bullshizz.” To wit, “The Fear” is a retitled and touched up version of the synthy demo we heard in April, then titled “I Don’t Know.” As we said then, “gone is the party bounce, the ska doobies, and syncopated cadences that marked her breakthrough material,” but this new wave of Lily material’s catchy, and subversively clever as ever.

It’s Not Me, It’s You is out in the UK on 2/9 via Parlophone.

Why will it not play for me :(

  2. All of the stuff she’s been leaking out has sounded promising … so I’m rather looking forward to the new one!

  3. Is it me or is actually…preachy?

  4. Slightly. But whatever, that was awesome.

  5. That was quite good. “The Fear” has a knack for making its way around England…Pulp’s opening tune on This is Hardcore…I still give the edge to that one, but like I said, this one is quite good as well :)

  6. Maybe it’s the low-res stream, but I’m not hearing any difference between this and the demo.

  7. na, there are some changes…slight ones. regardless, it’s still pretty good by pop music’s usual standards…

Lily Allen had a delay on her release date! It’s made it difficult for her, because she didn’t have anything to promote(Whats has she done lately? Who is Lily Allen? shes a publicity seeker and all that) Well here it is, but this leaked out last June/July the promotion of this is completely off balance. Lily Allen does great work, it’s her problem not her fault, but she’s plugging away and that’s good!

I love how this is so anti-bling. I’m getting so sick of all these rap songs about flying first class and driving ferraris. What really sickens me is MTV cribs where they show off 1000 shoes without thinking about how many kids slaved to make them. People just buy stuff to keep busy and stop `the fear’ of dying but there must be something else more positive to do.

who is the song produced by?

  16. This is great – both funny and clever which makes it a great piece of post modern pop. I have never understood the stick she gets. She writes great lyrics, easily equal to Alex Turner and better than Mike Skinner she is getting close to Jarvis and Morrissey now.
