Terry Hall’s getting the band back together: 2-Tone ska revivalists the Specials will reform, full lineup intact (minus Jerry Dammers), for a string of UK shows in April and May of ’09. View the dates here, and imagine what it will be with Terry’s take on “Gangsters” with Lily Allen from Glasto last year.

  1. seeing as jerry dammers was a founding member of The Specials, i don’t see how you can say “full lineup in tact” (not to mention the fact that “in tact” is actually one word)

krup, you have a point, but i think it’s in reference to the fact that there have been incarnations of the specials out there for years with jerry and no terry. for my money it’s not the specials without terry. whether or not it’s the specials without jerry – well, let’s try it and see. i think the main problem might be that it’s hard to contain two such enormous egos in one band. if any of you out there have ever been in a band, you know exactly what i’m talking about.

  4. i had the good fortune of seeing the specials during their first u.s. tour in a club that held about 250, max. easily one of the sweatiest shows i’ve ever been to. and, while terry was clearly the frontman, musically it was jerry’s band. so, for my money, it ain’t the specials without terry AND jerry.
