Röyksopp are celebrating their 10th birthday. (The Norwegian duo of Torbjørn Brundtland and Svein Berge released their first album Melody A.M. in 2001, but the guys actually got together and officially formed in 1998.) To celebrate longevity, the twosome have posted a new song, “Happy Birthday,” which opens with a sparkly loop of the title/occasion and doesn’t vary too much from the main theme over its four minutes. That said, along with the Roots’ “Birthday Girl,” it does offer another option the next time you or someone you love turns a year older. You’ll find the track over at www.royksopp.com, where you can sign-up to know when their new website launches. No word on a new full length, but maybe that new website will have an idea.

I absolutely LOVE Röyksopp. Thanks for this MP3. I remember back in ’01, ’02… listening to “Poor Leno” and “Eple” non-stop, all day long. Those were the days.

Yes! Hopefully this means a new LP is on the way. I still listen to Melody AM regularly, especially in the Winter months (not sure why)… Such a great chill-out electronic album.. Sparks, Higher Place, In Space and Remind Me. Really looking forward to hearing new material.
