Acclaimed Scottish singer/songwriter John Martyn has passed away at age 60. The news was announced today on his site, though no details are given. Over twenty albums Martyn melded folk and jazz, developing a signature sound with the use of the Echoplex guitar effect. Among his best work: 1973′s Solid Air, whose title track was a tribute to friend Nick Drake a year before he died. Listen to it here.
