Time for your daily dose of Dark Was The Night. “Well Alright” is credited to Spoon according to the liner notes, and to Britt From Spoon (Feat. A Drum Machine) according to your ears. Not to look a charity-comp contribution in the mouth, but the bar is high. This sketch-song races along in under three minutes with two tracks of acoustic guitars, a computer beat, and Daniel’s repeated insistence of how everything is gonna be between you and me. “Well Alright.” So-so, OK:

Dark Was The Night is out 2/17 via 4AD.

first truly underwhelming track on the comp.

  2. Mediocre Spoon is better than no Spoon at all.

Not Britt’s best work, but it’s still worthy of our attention.

    Feels like a B-side from Telephono…

  3. is this even spoon?

hi! this is not a new spoon song. it is at least 5 years old, maybe more. xoxo a spoon super fan.

  5. “Well Alright” … Spoon’s ode to Springsteen’s “Queen of the Supermarket”

  6. This is not new Spoon.

  7. This cannot be new material for Spoon… even Series of Sneaks (1998) had more melody, construction, lyric quality– more everything. This blows!

KInda sounds like it would go well on the Stubbs: The Zombie soundtrack.
