The market is severely busted, but the world of the Flaming Lips remains plenty boomy. P4K reports on a psilocybic film titled Know Your Mushrooms, a documentary that dares to wonder “Can mushrooms save the planet?” That remains an open question until you munch an eighth and lose your shit in a theater showing it (March 14th at SXSW, save the date), but for now it seems mushrooms can certainly lead to some inspired OST choices: the film soundtrack features three contributions from the Flaming Lips, and in support of why this is a great idea we point to pretty much everything the band has ever done. The Lips’ cuts include “The Wizard Turns On…,” “What Is The Light?,” and the special new track titled “Anything You Say Now I Believe You.” It’s 6:40 of melodic Coyne with an acoustic, tailor fit with psychedelically swelling, disorienting waves of noise, bleeps, rumbles, and heartbeats. These are your cochlear nerve endings after a trip to the smart shop. Grab a good pair of headphones and hear it at MySpace.

This track is intense, kind of a mix of Chirstmas On Mars synths with Soft Bulletin style lyrics and melody.
