When David Berman decided to call it quits, the Silver Jew decided to take his father with him. For his final SJ show, he decided to take his band and fans 300 feet underground to the Volcano Room at the Cumberland Caverns in McMinnville, Tennessee. (You should likely get the “underground” as a career metaphor, close readers. Like the “go” in the above headline should more appropriately read “stay.” When Queens Of The Stone Age performed underground, though, the metaphor meant something different.) The sextet played 15 songs. Here are the bookends:

This is how it started:

“Introduction / We Are Real”

This is how it ended:

“Smith And Jones Forever”

MTV news was there and has a more in-depth report on the night.
