In this clip for one of You & Me‘s many clippable tracks, the Walkmen are a lot like the Polyphonic Spree and Kaki King in that they made an animated video from a shit ton of still photos. However they earn bonus points of distinction in that their shots are of the Nepali Kagbeni Mustang region, which makes for a far more culturally stimulating set of frames. Bruno Levy is the photographer who lent his .jpgs to the endeavor, and here he collages together a narrative which follows a local girl through the valleys and the plains and to an eventual, happy reunion, the Walkmens’ croons and rim clicks unfolding as she steps.

The Walkmen weren’t in this video because they weren’t in the Himalayas at the time, and because occasionally they are not great on camera. You & Me is out via Gigantic.

I agree completely. It’s very solid album that is tirelessly consistent in quality from start to end, but for my tastes ‘Four Provinces’ stands as one of The Walkmen’s crowning achievements. It just fits together beautifully.

Just wait, once the Walkmen are used for a feature film’s soundtrack or a popular commercial, the general population will actually come to acknowledge them. That’s the ‘indie’ gold standard isn’t it?
