Wavves went from sorta outside to hardcore buzz faster than you can say Vivian Girls. If you couldn’t get into the Market Hotel show on Friday (2/6), no worries: nyctaper was there, set up a direct line to the PA speakers, and has the results ready for download. Lock yourself in a closet with half a dozen friends, spill beer on your neighbor, and pretend you were there.

Excellent. You have to admire an artist who plays live – and the sound quality is better than on his studio recordings.

Premature to say it, but the new Waaves album will most undoubtedly be one of my favorites of the year. It’s got that great feel and sound to it that’ll stay around with me until December.

The new Wavves album that is going around isn’t going to be released and is not the official album. The one that leaked is the De Stijl version and he jumped labels to Fat Possum and changed most of the track list. So you guys might want to wait until the official album leaks or is released before you make a call on how great it is. I like the leaked version a bit, but he uses the same backing vocals in almost all his songs (that includes his first album too). Lots “ooo-ooo-ooo-ooos.”
There are lo-fi bands out there that are a million times better than Wavves and Vivian Girls.
I think I have the official version because I had two and it was confusing me. One was the one you described, so thanks for that tidbit. So I guess my stance still stands?
that’s old news. and the official album has leaked. it leaked 3 days ago.it’s basically the same as the distjl release only with 3 new songs and some different track names. and yeah it’s still fucking awesome.

Hey Mr 3 days ago, the official version leaked yesterday, just 4 days after you were wrong. I had said 15 songs because the CD has a bonus track. What leaked is from iTunes and doesn’t have the hidden track. So its 14 songs and its the right one. Thank you, thank you very much.
So do you want to tell us what these bands are? Cos it’s really hard to hear them clearly when they’re only playing up there on your pedestal.

If it doesn’t have 15 songs on it and have “To The Dregs” and “Beach Demon”/”Weed Demon” its not the official one. I’ve been looking around and everywhere still has the old one.
