This live performance of “Sekebe” by Amadou & Mariam makes for a cathartic end-of-the-week jam. If the percussive, upbeat breakdowns and ebullient vocals weren’t enough, the various dancers both on and off stage take it to the next celebratory level. “Sekebe” was recorded at Radio France for the show “Live At Studio 104.” The song appears in studio form on Welcome to Mali, the band’s fifth album, which is finally seeing release in the States via Nonesuch in March. Feel free to get out of your desk for this one.

Welcome To Mali is out 3/24 in the US via Nonesuch. Here’s the first track and single:

  2. A & M kick ass, even without the back story.
