In a recent Progress Report, Cursive told us that their forthcoming Mama, I’m Swollen “is moodier, certainly moodier than Happy Hollow.” Today there are listens to assess their self-assessment. You can hear the insanely catchy, wild-eyed ’80s pop and Violens redolent “I Couldn’t Love You” at EW.com. It’s not really moody, but it is rad. The anti-intellectual think piece “From The Hips” is probably what they had in mind in diagnosing the mood of Mama that day, though: “I’m at my worst when I’m at my best … We’re all just trying to play our roles in a play that runs ad nauseam / I hate this damn enlightenment / We were better off as animals.” Bingo. Try that one at absolutepunk.net. UPDATE: Or download below…

Mama, I’m Swollen is out 3/10 via Saddle Creek.
