In a recent Progress Report, Cursive told us that their forthcoming Mama, I’m Swollen “is moodier, certainly moodier than Happy Hollow.” Today there are listens to assess their self-assessment. You can hear the insanely catchy, wild-eyed ’80s pop and Violens redolent “I Couldn’t Love You” at EW.com. It’s not really moody, but it is rad. The anti-intellectual think piece “From The Hips” is probably what they had in mind in diagnosing the mood of Mama that day, though: “I’m at my worst when I’m at my best … We’re all just trying to play our roles in a play that runs ad nauseam / I hate this damn enlightenment / We were better off as animals.” Bingo. Try that one at absolutepunk.net. UPDATE: Or download below…
Mama, I’m Swollen is out 3/10 via Saddle Creek.

So excited for this record!!
Nice track. The tempo change toward the middle saves it. Looking forward to the album.
any comment about the Progress Reports permits myself to ask:
what the fuck is built to spill doing?
Happy Hollow was a let down, but these songs are pretty solid!
did anyone else notice the comments from billy corgan and conor oberst in the EW post?
I seriously forgot how much I missed Cursive. These songs are both fucking awesome. BRING ON THE ALBUM! =D
no way!
Amazing tracks! I can’t wait.
Have you noticed how they’re sounding more and more like The Cure as the years progress?
