The Baltimore duo did a slow and non-Queen-like cover of Queen’s “Play The Game” for Dark Was The Night. It was left off the compilation proper because of licensing issues, though it can be had as a bonus track when you purchase the collection via iTunes. Can’t believe Queen wouldn’t donate use of their song to an AIDS awareness comp.
Not their fault, Hollywood Records is the most terrible label ever. The decision probably never even reached anyone who works with the band.
The Beach House version does not really do justice for how remarkable the song is and was. Maybe they felt the same.
