The Rye Rye/M.I.A. connections run deep: the pair toured relentlessly on the back of Kala, Rye teamed up with Afrikan Boy on the Paper Planes (Homeland Security Remixes) EP, now the 18 year-old is releasing her debut LP on Mama Arulpragasam’s nascent N.E.E.T. label. M.I.A. doesn’t do much more than “Bang” repeatedly on this Blaqstarr-produced track, but between Rye’s fashion sense, flow, and club beats, she fits easily into the expanding Maya/Diplo/Santi/Spank/Amanda Blank axis.

  1. I’ve been looking forward to all artists signed under M.I.A.’s N.E.E.T. label but I feel like I’ve heard this song before, it seems pretty generic (Reminds me of Lil’ Mama), but then again I have only listened to it twice.
