In his silver fox incarnation, the ever-prolific David Byrne appears never to have met a collaborative opportunity he didn’t like. Just in the last few months he joined creative juices with Dirty Projectors and the grab-bag of Stereogum artist tags that was the N.A.S.A. LP, and here he ties some trademark anxious/excitable talk-singing (and proper crooning) to the English version of Brazilian Girls’ electro-groovy and faintly Heads-indebted “I’m Losing Myself.” The track originally appeared in French on the Girls’ New York City album, this time it’s coming as a stand alone single because, well, it’s got a David Byrne on it.

The “Losing Myself” single is out 3/24 via iTunes.

  1. I think David Byrne is one artist I won’t ever get sick of reading on a blog

haha. Who won’t David Byrne do a song with anymore? it seems like he release at least ten songs a year that aren’t his own. Already we have this, BPA, Dirty Projectors, and a bunch last year. Not complaining though.

Noe here’s a band you guys should’ve been talking about more before they had to go on hiatus…too bad it takes a Byrne cameo on one of their most uninteresting songs for you to talk about them.
You may want to switch up that pic, Jesse (bassist next to Sabina) isn’t a BG anymore…

I am going to pretend that they are not are on hiatus because that would make me too sad. While I don’t think New York City is their best album, I honestly never understood why they don’t get more attention. They make such fun, creative music.

Where did this news that they’re on hiatus come from? Just curious, I hadn’t heard and I don’t see anything on their website and such.

I haven’t really been able to get that much into New York City, even though it seems like it’s something I would like… I’m not entirely sure why, though it does lack the jam band-like feel that I so loved on their first two albums. Also, it seems like they have more fans than I had thought–I was surprised to find out that their October show here in Boston had sold out. Luckily I was able to score a ticket. : )

I’m not sure about the hiatus or how long that would be…but Todd’s probably referring to the fact that Sabina is pregnant and they’ll have to take off for a while.
i kinda wish it was my baby, too…
