For $40 you get at least five studio updates per week over the course of three months, with an update defined as at least five minutes of “unique audio/video material” that’ll be part of a “substantial ‘art film.’” Says Billy, “I am excited to make this offer to anyone who might be interested what goes on behind the wizard’s curtain. It is my goal to far exceed the normal docmentary [sic] process.” More details at his site. Stay tuned to Stereogum.com for minute-by-minute updates on everything Billy Corgan does, apparently.

“It is my goal to far exceed the normal docmentary [sic] process.” = bore you to tears with footage of endless guitar canoodling.

I’m distracted by the use of the term “wizard’s curtain” on multiple levels

  3. Just because Billy Corgan can’t get enough Billy Corgan doesn’t mean WE cant get enough Billy Corgan.

  4. At what point does relentlessly sucking money out of your fanbase become bullying?
$40 for the same stuff a lot of musicians are Twittering to us for free anyway.

  5. It’s a neat idea, but I find it hard to justify paying $40 for material that will most likely end up ripped to YouTube anyway.

Kind of a cool idea, even if it’s overpriced. Seeing a documentary on how an album gets made is a lot less interesting after the album comes out.

What very little respect I had left for Billy Corgan was lost when he went before congress lobbying the Live Nation / Ticketmaster merger. Now he is charging $40 for some demos? Come on… is it really necessary to give this money hungry band exposure on Stereogum?

No clever jokes here, fuck Billy Corgan and his curtain.

  10. God damn I am done with this “band.”

I really can’t imagine many people taking Billy up on this offer. I have a better idea: pull a Josh Freese and charge fans $40 to hang out with you for a week or two.
