Mr. Blank Dogs has removed the mask for his forthcoming Under And Under, but that doesn’t mean he (or at least the male protagonist) and his choreographed KKK-as-Fort Thunder dancers in this crisp back and white Jacqueline Castel-directed video should show their faces: Even in the heart of Brooklyn, a relative mysteriousness remains central to his project. Yesterday we gave you album standout “Tin Birds,” today it’s time to for “Setting Fire to Your House.” Think of it as “Burning Down The House” 2009, re-imagined by someone circulating in the same scene as Crystal Stilts and Vivian Girls.

  1. Kind of amateurish, he can make a couple of catchy tunes every 50 songs he makes. All in all, he will be forgotten in 2-3 years. This music has no permanent value but can be fun sometimes, like Crystal Castles.

i just figured out how to get my labrador positive reviews on stereogum, he’s already got most of the requirements nailed.
    1. He lives in Brooklyn.
    2. He wasnt originally from Brooklyn but moved there because he thought it would make him a cooler dog.
    3. He can’t sing.
    4. He cant play any instruments well.
    5. He can accomplish pressing “play” on one of my old drum machines.
    6. He likes crapping on stuff.
Now all we have to do is make some random, pointless video with slightly offensive visual references and we’re set.
“re-imagined by someone circulating in the same scene as Crystal Stilts and Vivian Girls”- ugh…that was painful to read.

  4. I’m really glad Mr. Blank Dogs took off that rad mask he used to wear…now I can look for him in the streets so I can tell him how much his music has changed my life.
And by “changed my life”, I mean had no positive impact on it whatsoever.

Yeah, to be honest I’ve liked maybe one song out of the dozen I’ve heard by this guy.. he seems to get by on repeating the same vibe over and over with quantity very much emphasised over quality.
