Those of you bored by White Denim’s soulfully herky jerky garage shake shake shake could be pleasantly surprised by the gurgling, chillier psychedelia of “Mirrored And Reverse.” The denser, more fluid track’s still plenty bluesy, etc., but it finds the Texas trio sounding like autumnal This Heat!, or maybe dusky Blue Cheer (or, OK, Comets On Fire) on a pop trip. It’s from the forthcoming Fits, which is out in the UK in June, and in the US sometime in the future.

Fits is out 6/22 via Full Time Hobby. The band is still in search of a U.S. label.

this is really good stuff like if boards of canada was a 70′s psych band

  2. I went to see the pains of being pure at heart at spaceland in silverlake earlier this month, and after their very good set, white denim stepped on the stage. I’d never heard of them but man, they were impressive. By the end of their set they completely won over the crowd who was there for a very different type of show. Most impressive was their unbelievable musical prowess (just from a technical standpoint), as well as their relentless energy. Lead singer was DRENCHED in sweat halfway through the show. They rock REALLY hard, which is kinda lost in the translation onto their currently available EPs. Anyway, if you get a chance to see them live, take it, it’s worth the price of admission.

How can anybody be bored by White Denim? They’re about as exciting a band as I’ve ever heard (sometimes to a fault) and Workout Holiday is my favourite record of last year….

This one kinda sounds like Dungen. And yes, White Denim rules it live.

  6. This is superb. Not as dense and exhausting as Comets on Fire. Looking forward to the new album.
