“Why” is an It’s Not Me, It’s You b-side. It is also Lily at her most vulnerable, aww. She could be a better person, maybe that’s why you don’t love her? The first lines say it all: “Why aren’t I one of these interesting people whose always got something to say / To not be contrived and to feel so alive and to never have wasted a day.” The rest are building on that tenderly rendered and orchestral self-loathing, bemoaning always talking in circles, her lack of information retention, and asking “Why is my phone full of so many numbers and why doesn’t anyone call?” Somebody’s in serious need of some MySpace kudos.

It’s Not Me, It’s You is out.

  1. i still like her. well smile was good. and i quite like this. the instrumentation is awesome, her voice is amazing especially around the 2:45 , she should sing more like that radiohead style

  2. Lily Allen is the Martin Luther King Jr. of stupid lyrics.

  3. yo i’m a long time blogger of Stereogum and semi-frequent commentor and i think Stereogum is too light on actual mp3′s. videos don’t cut it for me. you guys are getting too corporate and now you can’t release music like you used too. like i understand your legal constraints but it’s a bummer

Why is what I ask myself as in “Why would anyone over the age of 12 want to listen to this attention seeking bimbo?”

  5. this is pop music. why are you reporting on this.

  6. This is the kind of self-centered trash that turns teen girls into the mindless, decadent bimbos they are today. And it rings especially empty considering Allen is a successful, probably semi-wealthy artist who hits up clubs with her friendzzzz every Friday night. Shove it, Lily Allen. Some people have real problems.

  7. I think Lilly is hot and I like her music.

Yup, that’s it; not gonna try to tear her down at all!

  8. team lily. anti-everyone anti-lily.

This mopey, self-centered, attention-whore is so played out. Was listening to the last album not enough proof for you people that she has nothing interesting to offer anymore? You might as well make a post about Britney Spears or Miley Cyrus while you’re at it.

  10. It’s so so, not really my thing. And lyrics are lacking.

  11. Seriously, who is this aimed at? Jenny Humphrey?

It cracks me up, how people that can’t stand Lily Allen, hang on the way they do, and still manage to blame her for how f-up “THEY are! These people don’t even question, themselves, about why they bother to write anything! The majority DICKHEADS” that think, they can piss off the people that like her, the prime example of which, is comparing her to a racist, activist, that thinks God gave him a free ticket to spread hate. Wow, that’s not even a stretch, it’s just stupidity, or someone that hates her, but still manages to guess, that she’s well off, and goes out (every Friday no less) I don’t know a damn thing about the people I dislike, but I’m sure as hell not going to follow them, and become obsessed with hating them. So you’re point would be that she’s a mindless bimbo, but she’s successful, that’s insulting her, and then giving her a compliment, which makes you sound like an idiot. Thomas is letting somebody, that he thinks is an attention whore, have his attention. These people are assholes!
