It’s been awhile, but Cornershop’s still alive and following up 2002′s Handcream For A Generation with the forthcoming Judy Sucks A Lemon For Breakfast. That’s where you’ll find first single “The Roll Off Characteristics (Of History In The Making).” You’ll also find it as the backing track to this Prashant Bhargava-directed video. Cornershop offer the details at MySpace:

Well before the current interest in India as a different locational source for film, Chicago’s award winning Grafitti artist turned award winning Film-maker and Designer Prashant Bhargava put together his film Patang — this feature length drama is set during the jubilant atmosphere of India’s largest kite festival. Luckily for us he also did a video for “The Roll Off Characteristics”

Lucky for us, too. Get out your confetti:

This remix will inspire some different, maybe less joyous dancing:

“The Roll Off Characteristics (Of History In The Making)” single is out 5/26 via Cornershop’s own Ample Play in various formats. The limited one-sided 7″ version can be pre-ordered at Rough Trade. One sided? Yes:

The B. side is an etch by NYC’s part folkie, part indie-rocker and part comic book artist extraordinaire Jeffrey Lewis, depicting the super dooper Indian super hero Jaganath, whom can circumference the earth in 5 steps.

They’re also taking it on the road, but staying local:

  1. the world has missed this band.

  2. Cornershop – 1 Cracker – 0, this is way more infectious than anything off of Land of Milk and Honey

Pretty nice song, very lazy remix though. Throwing some vocal samples over a ‘wobbly’ bassline does no justice to the original.

  5. I want to hear Jerffrey Lewis !!!! all well, that was a nice video…..lame remix but cool video.
