Even though it’s her face on the cover and in the videos, you never can tell if Annie Clark’s singing about herself or a character she’s invented, whether she’s feeling something for real or if she’s acting. Along with her unique song constructions and songwriting sense, it’s a large part of what makes her work interesting.
