The newest Fantasies track gets a simple treatment: “Sick Muse” features a lower-tech sound stage than “Gimme Sympathy” and none of the layered animations of “Help, I’m Alive,” and it feels more alive because of it. (Thanks for the tip, Mark.) Basically, a stationary camera cuts between the (ever wardrobe changing) band hamming it up and rocking out. Perhaps it’s a coincidence, but Emily Haines’ periodic white sunglasses, the shiny letters spelling “Sick,” a shared sparkler, the toppled drums, and some of the camera mugging is reminiscent of a few of those Goo-era Sonic Youth clips. Watch “Kool Thing,” for instance. Or just watch this.
Fantasies is available now in various formats at ilovemetric.com/store.

WHERE ARE YOUR BOOBS GONE
Where are your literacy gone?
I can never get enough of watching her dance.
The SY comparison made me realize how awesome Metric could be if they threw some dissonant guitar freakouts into the mix. Like “Glass Ceiling” from Live It Out, but more. Mmmm.
one of the best songs off their new album.
