New Zealand’s fourth-most popular guitar-based digi-bongo a cappella-rap-funk comedy folk duo joined forces for a tour through their deep (one-album-and-some-TV-shows deep) catalog at a sold-out Greek Theatre this past weekend. They played the hits — “The Most Beautiful Girl In The Room,” “Hiphopopotamus vs. Rhymenoceros,” “Bowie” — and most of the rest, including “Sugarlumps” (which is sort of a response song to “My Humps,” but about balls) during which Bret tried to get some girls onstage, only to scream SECURITY when they took him up on it. Classic Aussie headfake. They’re Aussies, right? Opening the show were Flight Of The Conchords‘ occasional side-stars Eugene Mirman (check out his guide to modern life The Will To Whatevs, it’s great) and Arj Barker (who returned during the robot portion of FOTC’s set). Photographer Andrew Youssef took his camera to distill the humor in still frames, so combine those with this setlist to imagine the laffs:

01 “Too Many Dicks (On The Dance Floor)”
02 “Hurt Feelings (Tears Of A Rapper)”
03 “The Most Beautiful Girl In The Room”
04 “Stana”
05 “Jenny”
06 “I Told You I Was Freaky”
07 “I’m Not Crying”
08 “Hiphopopotamus vs. Rhymenoceros”
09 “Carol Brown (Choir of Ex-Girlfriends)”
10 “Business Time”
11 “Song For Epileptic Dogs”
12 “Think About It”
13 “We’re Both In Love With A Sexy Lady”
14 “Sugalumps”
////
15 “Pretty Prince of Parties”
16 “Albi The Racist Dragon”
17 “Bowie”

  1. Arj Barker is looking pretty erogenous in that shirt. Like Prince at the supermarket.

  2. They played “Song for Epileptic Dogs” ? Was Murray there to flip through the powerpoint slides ?

The Crazy Dogggz > Flight of the Conchords

  4. I wish they would perform “Brett You Got it Going On” more often. Probably their best song ever.

“Women love danger. If they could, they’d just date a fire.”

Eugene Mirman is more than a side-star, he’s a genius.

  6. I like their show.

  7. what’s the synth instrument jemane is using in almost all the pictures?

  8. Sad to see that they played “Hiphopopotamus vs. Rhymenoceros” there but not when they visited Madison last month.

  11. while i would love fotc to be aussies, it’s insulting to both us (aussies) and them to think they are australian. there was a goddam episode on it!

their accent is completely different jeez

  12. They need to come to London. Genius

  13. the live show is funnier than the normal NBC episodes that they do. I’m suprised they can keep a straight face at times

I’ve never seen these guys…I do know I’m wary of the the funny looking/hansome type right off the bat as it often means medium talent…c’mon on TV…your not still doing as well as you think…in fact you blew the whole promise of the medium…
