Chairlift have been making videos for Does You Inspire You since last summer, but that was before Apple made them nano-famous, so recent ones (like this eye-spinning Ray Tintori pixel-morphing/missing-keyframe experiment) understandably have been more glossed and memorable. Up until now the Apple ad’s served perfectly well as the unofficial video their breezy breakout “Bruises,” but now we get one that’s not trying to sell you a PMP. It features lots of Caroline writhing near TV screens while the guys hold handicams, just not as Sex, Lies as that sounds.

I think this video is cool, this song is cool, and I like this band, but there’s something about the production on this record that I’m not into. Oh well. Good band.
I first hear this song at a very appropriate time for me, and can’t help but adore it now even if it is just a pop jangle, it’s beautiful. As for the video……….i was picturing something a bit more…….outdoors.

GAH this band frustrates me. They’ve got to tell the dude who sings to STOP. At best he just mumbles a verse like on this song. Ok, whatever, I can try to ignore it. On other songs (“Evident Untensil”) he echoes all the lines in this stupid C&C Music Factory-esque voice. You’ve got a great, jaunty, poppy thing going, but that dude “singing” is a total dealbreaker.
Chairlift…they are so last year.
