Over the weekend, angelic-voiced Kill Rock Stars songwriter Jeff Hanson died in what appears to be a tragic accident in his new St. Paul home. He was 31. The Minneapolis-St. Paul Star-Tribune has the details.

    God damn it. “Madaw Owl” is one the best albums of the decade. Tragic, tragic loss. Does everyone good have to die by 33?

    Oh man that’s just terrible :( . It’s a bit eerie because he kind of always reminded me of Elliott Smith and this didn’t help matters. Nonetheless, wonderful musician and he’ll surely be missed by those who discovered his brilliance.

    Jeff was great. I was already looking forward to album #4. But I’m grateful for the first three, they were brilliant.

    This is terrible, how sad for family, friends, and fans.
