Everybody loves a happy ending, and now thanks to the tremendous success of terrific “real life Spinal Tap” documentary The Story Of Anvil, the future’s looking bright for Canada’s once forgotten metal heroes. Having already appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live (and delighting famous headbangers like Keanu Reeves and Chris Martin) Anvil continue the victory lap with appearances at the Rocklahoma and Download Festivals and gigs opening for AC/DC next month. Also in the works are a DVD, soundtrack, book, Rock Band tracks, the film’s TV premiere, and the rerelease of the band-funded 13th album whose recording was documented by the film. With any luck, someone will build Anvil a proper website to promote it.

Billboard‘s got details on the new projects, along with this footage of a tearful Lips thanking director Sacha Gervasi at a recent NYC screening.

Hopefully the singer can now quit his day job delivering school cafeteria lunches. Here’s the trailer again if you haven’t been paying attention.

Anvil: The Story Of Anvil‘s playing in 27 cities, with dozens more expected in the coming months. Get in line.

However, Anvil has never stopped rocking, and with the arrival of the critically-acclaimed/surprise hit film, “Anvil! The Story of Anvil” (directed by Sacha Gervasi), the group is back where they belong – at the forefront of heavy metal.

  1. …Um, who’s Anvil?

Thank you for reminding me how young I still am.

  2. Actually, the album documented in the movie is already out. Do you mean it’s being re-released with a major label?

I was fortunate enough to see the movie at a local film festival last summer. Afterward the band came out, played a few songs and did some Q & A. Great guys.

  5. Just found out they are opening up for ACDC in Ottawa in August! Even more excited now

  6. TV Premiere when what channel VH1?
