They also offered up “Illgresi” and an extremely gorgeous “Fljotavik,” but the two Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust tracks with longer titles are more lively fare for a Friday afternoon. Yes, you’ve likely already seen “Inní mér syngur vitleysingur” live before, but not with the four guys alone in a room. (Plus, as we’ve already made clear on this site, these guys are a a good live band — and the double piano playing’s compelling to watch up close.) And it’s good to see “Við Spilum Endalaust” in crisper, less pixelated form … even if Spinner has it labeled “Fljotavik” by mistake.

“Inní Mér Syngur Vitleysingur”

“Við Spilum Endalaust”

If you want to feel a little sadder, head to Spinner for the other two takes and a brief interview. Also, they’ve lowered the price of the Med sud í eyrum vid spilum endalaust Deluxe Edition to $79.98, in case you couldn’t afford it previously. Finally, in other Sigur Rós news, Jónsi and his partner (and regular SR graphic designer) Alex Somers’ Riceboy Sleeps project has a self-titled album out 7/21 via XL. You might remember their “Happiness” from Dark Was The Night.

  1. Help! I’m watching 2 Sigor Ros Videos at once! It’s twice as annoying. They’re only appealing to me if 1. I suddenly understand Icelandic 2. wish to levitate 3. have a hangover and must have music on.

  2. They are not a good live band, they are an AMAZING live band. Anybody who thinks different has no soul.

  3. not gonna lie, ive never enjoyed these guys… but i liked these two videos

  4. As much as I love me some Sigur Ros, I’ve come to terms with the fact that I’ll never probably recognize songs by their title :)

  5. Videos don’t work. =[

  6. Spinner got the names right.

  7. Never noticed this, but the lead singer looks like a younger Billy Corgan. That frightens me.

  8. Fljotawhateveritiscalled is so pretty

  9. it’s really fljotavik, not vid spillum,,

  10. Allow me then to clarify my opinion (note: opinion) in Proper English Words: I think Sigur Ros sucks. I heard them open for Bjork who sings beautifully in Icelandic, but really, this band? *yawn* OK…next!

  11. “yawn” is such lazy man’s criticism. i get so tired of “yawn”. people get on these stupid comment boards and type “yawn” like it’s the end of the discussion. it encapsulates the worst in artistic aptitudes. “this means nothing to me, because i do not find it exciting or appealing in a way that suits ME, so it cannot possibly be valid for anybody else.” offer some thoughts that are substantive, then i will actually care about your co-called “opinion”. in my “opinion”, you don’t even have an opinion unless you can back it up with a claim at least superficially more meaningful than “yawn”.
