Eminem’s gruesome “3 A.M.” premiered on Cinemax a few weeks back, so that’s why the Dead Weather asked the channel to show its new video before Wanted on Saturday night. Because Jack White and Eminem are best bros from Detroit. Not because it makes no sense to premiere a music video on Cinemax when no one’s gonna see it there and it’s not like you can’t show adult content on the Internet where it’s gonna end up anyway. “Treat Me Like Your Mother” was directed by Jonathan Glazer and is only slightly less bloody than Em’s horror show. The concept’s pretty simple: Jack and Alison in black leather, shooting rounds of ammo into each other’s chest. Like your mother.

You gotta curve the bullets.

    such a fucking hot video.

  2. kevo  |   Posted on Jul 13th, 2009

@medzik you are not fucking kidding, that was great.

  3. This video simply proves that Jack White isn’t human….no mortal could survive that many close shots fired from a loaded weapon.

  4. fela  |   Posted on Jul 13th, 2009

this is fuckin hot… too bad it’s low res… killer track too, Jack White delivers.

I was not expecting to dig this Dead Weather album as much as I am. Sure, it’s the same supercharged gritty blues fuck-rock the whole time, but there isn’t really anything else that sounds like it right now. Plus, Alison Mosshart really gets a chance to cut loose, and that is a very good thing.

  6. This track/clip has sold me on the Dead Weather.

  7. If people were actually into videos anymore this would be way up there, love the simple premise, totally makes the song, as a good video should/used to….

  8. Jesus Christ. Someone should take Jack to the hospital.

  9. am i the only who thinks she tries too hard to seem all cool? annoying.

No, you’re not the only one, in fact it’s mentioned every single time someone posts about her, that and the whole faux Royal Trux thing. And it’s a shame, because in spite of her image she’s actually a damn good performer. In interviews she comes off as rather shy. The album kinda rocks, it won’t provoke any deep lyrical analysis, launch them into the top ten, or get them critical acclaim, but it does rock, as does this vid.

      • ok good to hear. she always seems like she’s riding on her image of ‘cool rock chick’ without doing that much. I’ll stick with White Stripes/Raconteurs. just found out Brendan Benson has a new album out!

    • yes, you are the only one that thinks that. I’m sorry, I just think she’s amazing…but I think I’d take The Kills over The Dead Weather anyday

  10. Am I the only one underwhelmed by this clip? The bullet holes were a nice touch though, probably spent the whole budget on them.

Is this the boy who wants to warm your mothers heart?

  12. Hm. I actually think I don’t like this video. I also think I don’t like the song. I am sad.

  13. They couldn’t find an open desert for the video shoot. I’m so distracted by suburbia and the moving cars in the background. Also, that’s not a water gun Alison. Machine guns typically kick back when you shoot them, not forward.

    • aaron  |   Posted on Jul 13th, 2009

Jeez, you`re right. The whole video is filmed in the suburbs. Parents, keep your kids indoors! It`s cloudy with a chance of STRAY BULLETS!

looks like it was shot in Chino

ah cinemax…where else can I pay to see jaw 3d 434 times a month?…the way i look at it …if wilco had a “boys of summer” quality/vibe video to go with “bull black nova” people would be brought straight to the source on who’s winning in the columns right now…

  16. this was meant to appeal to teenagers, and apparently it does

  17. Happy  |   Posted on Jul 13th, 2009

Some Girls…the great summer time Stones album? Before They Make me….whatever that thing was that set Keith apart…that spark…

  18. sam cohen  |   Posted on Jul 13th, 2009

they both look like michael jackson and the first part of the song sounds like the crudge which really blows.

check out the Screaming Females who are opening for them on their current tour, http://thenjunderground.com/blog/2009/7/11/screaming-females-reissue.html

He ran back to his momma.

  21. Jack White has more spinoffs than a VH1 reality show, but he always manages to be kickass. how does he do it?

  22. This video is very underwhelming. I thought it’d be better by reading the description. It’s all about the shoot-off but there’s not interesting editing or shots. You have to wait one minute into the song to see his face. Doesn’t help that the song is not good at all.

  23. Automatic weapons.. check.
    Spaghetti-western setting.. check.
    Leather jackets.. check.
    Hot female singer.. check.

On some alternate universe, this is MTV’s hottest music video.

Saw the band on the opening night of the tour two days ago at the 9:30 Club. It was one of the more intense shows I’ve been to this year. So bad ass though everyone wears all black and the all the guitars are white. Jack even came out to rip on the guitar for one song. Great light show and Alison is just amazing. My friend put it best after the show that they are the hipster answer to Tool.

  25. dunn  |   Posted on Jul 15th, 2009

Why didn’t nobody die? Somebody should have died.

  26. “The hipster answer to Tool” I’ll let you keep that one as my allusions don’t often mean much to others either. What’s really sad about music is that its always rooted in something else. Very few have the means to really take off from inspiration. In light of The Dead Weather being around, just be happy there is some good music to chill and take it, that’s sometimes sexy and raw. The way music was meant to be.

If not please jump off a cliff with a Daughtery record and maybe take Modest Mouse with you as well. On the shorter side of their life now as well.

Watching this video simply makes me all the more pumped to see them live at Bluesfest in Ottawa, Canada this Sunday!! :)

I just can’t buy into this whole business. Even with The Kills this chick always sort of played like she had just read an article in Spin about Black-Leather-Post-Velvet-Underground-Roots-Rock-Rebel-Horseshit and decided to give it a spin. At least back then the music was original and her schtick wasn’t burnt to cinders yet. Jack White’s best work was almost 10 god damn years ago. Let’s put this to bed, boys and girls – we’re pushing Tin Machine/Steel Wheels eras blossoming up in this motherfucker. When’s the next BRMC album coming out, already?

  29. Wiley  |   Posted on Jul 29th, 2009

Kind of disappointing when you watch Royal Trux videos on youtube and realize this band comes dangerously close to being a tribute band. Is it that hard to be original really? Even the photo shoots with the fur jacket out in the woods! come on!

  30. ripoff  |   Posted on Jul 29th, 2009

Jack White has his fans hypnotized or something. They are all intent on making him richer with each passing day. Dead Weather rips off Jennifer Herrema so hard.
    Acutely so… http://decibelmagazine.com/Content.aspx?ncid=317120

This is extremely similar in vibe to The Wildes’ video – which was released about two weeks before (to a lot less fanfare of course)… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wgo54Pgl06w

One of the best videos I have ever seen in my entire adult life. Why do so many posters try to read into it instead of praising it for it’s artistic value and great cinematography and direction from Mr. Glazer. I get so angry when people make insincere comments like they do. Enjoy it because it’s a masterpiece of creativity. And as far as I’m concerned Jack White and the Kills’ Alison Mosshart should remain together forever as the “Dead Weather.”
